Ballerina Maddie

Maddie had her first Pitter Patter (aka Ballet) class today. Auntie Nancy and Conny went with her and took lots of pictures so Mommy and Daddy could see and share with all of you.

Mommy learns to can!

A couple of weekends ago, the aunties (Cindy and Nancy) offered to show mommy how to can jars of salsa. It was LOTS of fun and VERY exhausting, but the margaritas helped.

Frog pond out back - the frog house Maddie made for the aunties...look close, there are froggies hanging out in there!
Tomatoes...tomatoes...tomatoes...and Ella...
Mommy walks into the house to see the volume of jars to be filled...and we ended up having to buy FOUR more cases of them!
Some of the batches are finished...
A lunchtime visitor..."tomato burglar"...

Ella's Diner

Lunchtime Sunday after the kid's museum was at a place called Ella's Diner. It was pretty cool! Lots of fun stuff to look at including an Alice in Wonderland cuckoo clock and things flying overhead. It ended with ANOTHER ride on a carousel, this time with daddy. Giddy up horsey!

Children's Museum

Sunday morning we slept in after a LONG night. Maddie is NOT a sound sleeper and people coming back from the Taste at 2am woke her up, so she ended up sleeping in between mommy and daddy (after a good 1 hour death grip on mommy - poor thing!) We headed about 5 blocks away to a children's museum where Maddie did A LOT. The first picture was a water area where she is filling up a cup with water and pouring it out. The second is on the rooftop where there was a garden area with chickens which she pet. She's saying "cheese" for daddy - how appropriate in Wisconsin, non?

Taste of Madison

Saturday night after a nap (well, not really - after Maddie cried for an hour and we decided to give it up), we walked about three blocks from our hotel to the Taste of Madison. It was in the blocks surrounding the capital. Lots of food, beer from Capital Brewery, and music for Maddie to dance too. We loved it! Crowded on the streets, but plenty of space to walk on the sidewalks, and tons of room on the lawn around the capital to sit down, enjoy a drink, and watch Maddie bop up-and-down to the tunes.

Maddie in Madison

We headed up to Madison, WI for a Freise family getaway - the first with just mommy, daddy and Maddie since Florida last year! We arrived Saturday morning and went to the zoo. The pictures are from our cellphones, and we can't figure out how to rotate them, so turn sideways to see! There was a children's zoo where Maddie played on slides and then saw this carousel. She had to ride it!
